During the 6th European Professional Competition for Young Gardeners in 2012 which took place in Luxembourg for the first time, motivated young people faced a whole range of subject-related tasks from the entire spectrum of horticulture work.
105 young gardeners from 17 different countries showed their professional skills, creativity and resourcefulness at the Lycée Technique Agricole in Ettelbruck/Luxembourg from 3 to 8 September 2012, far from any pressure of examination and competition.
The aim was to show floristic creativity, production-technical precision and, of course, their knowledge in landscaping. But general knowledge about Europe and sporting fitness were also in demand. On day one, the tasks were fulfilled in "European teams". On day two, the technical tasks had to be solved in the national team. On the third day the Herculean task had to be solved: Team members from nine different nations had to build a bridge over a strongly flowing stream. Symbolically, the gap between the cultures was to be overcome and all teams were to be reminded of the necessary bridge-building between the nations.
Participating nations:
Germany, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, Estonia, Austria, Holland, Sweden ,Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, France, Slovenia and Croatia.
